Xavi Simons becomes Puma’s new KING

Dutch sensation Xavi Simons will be the new brand ambassador for Puma's iconic KING line.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder experienced a breakout season last year with Eredivisie side PSV where he scored 19 goals and assisted 8 in 34 appearances. In addition to winning the Eredivisie boot for top scorer, he helped PSV finish second in the league last season.

Beyond gracing the UEFA Champions League field, Simmons also stood for the Netherlands at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. In doing so, he became Holland's youngest player to ever feature for the National team in the knockout stages of the World Cup.

However, PSG plans to exercise their buy-back clause to re-sign their former player for $13.5m. The Parisians will likely loan him, with Manchester United and German club RB Leipzig as potential suitors.

Puma's next KING in the making

The German sports brand doesn't seem too concerned about where Simons ends up next, knowing that they have a future star on their hands.

“Puma is a brand with so much football history and is at the top of their game,” the player said.

He added: “The Puma King is iconic – some of the best players in the game have worn this boot like Johan Cruyff and Maradona, so it's an honor to step into the new generation of KING. I can't wait to kick-off the new season, there is so much I want to achieve in my career and I'm ready to write my own history.”

The sky is the limit for the Barcelona youth standout, whose father named him after the Blaugrana legend Xavi Hernandez.

As the face of the Puma KING brand, the partnership will endeavor to bridge the gap between the fashion and football worlds, no doubt shaping the future of style.

The PUMA King is a classic line of soccer cleats renowned for their quality, comfort, and craftsmanship. First introduced in the late 1960s, these boots have graced the feet of some of the sport's greatest players, such as Pelé and Johan Cruyff.

The PUMA King cleat is distinguished by its premium leather upper, which offers exceptional touch and ball control. Its slim design and conical stud pattern deliver optimum grip and maneuverability on the field, making it a go-to choice for professionals and amateur players.

Updated versions in which Simons will serve as ambassador should retain the timeless style of the originals while incorporating modern technologies for improved performance and durability.
