Two-Boot Wonder: Harrison Butker Leads Chiefs to Super Bowl Victory

Two-Boot Wonder Harrison Butker Leads Chiefs to Super Bowl Victory

If you were a football fan watching last night's Super Bowl, you might have noticed the boots on Kansas City's field goal kicker Harrison Butker. After all, he kicked the game-winning field goal.

But he did it, interestingly enough, in two different types of cleats: one Nike soccer boot and one Adidas American football boot.

Soccer cleats take the football field

On the right foot, his kicking foot, Butker wore the Nike Zoom Mercurial Superfly 9 soccer boot. For the record, those are the same boots Kylian Mbappe wore in the World Cup.

On the left foot (a right-kicker's plant leg), Butker wore the Adidas Adizero for proper support. After all, players admitted that the wet and slick field for last night's game was one of the worst they've ever played on. Butker

But the tricky conditions at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, made little difference to Butker: he had been wearing two different boots throughout the entire season.

Butker surely made up for pinging the pole and missing his early field goal attempt because the final 27-yard field goal made all the difference. The Chiefs won the game 38-35.

“That's what you dream of as a kicker, getting to the Super Bowl and having a game-winning kick,” Butker said after the game.

“It's an amazing feeling, and I'm just so happy now to be with the Chiefs organization.”

Would you wear two different boots on the pitch?

Harry Kane is the correct answer. He's scored 26 goals, putting him ahead of Ivan Toney (20), Mo Salah (19), and Marcus Rashford (16). Haaland, of course, leads the league with 35 record-breaking strikes.
