Tottenham’s Harry Kane to undergo surgery on hamstring, ruled out until April

Harry Kane has been ruled out until April and will undergo surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring.

The star forward picked up the injury in Spurs New Year’s day loss against Saints.

Tottenham confirmed Kane’s forthcoming operation on the club website but expect the player to return to training in April. He should be back to full fitness for this summer’s European Championships.

Following ongoing assessment by our medical staff over the past week, we can confirm that Harry Kane will undergo surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring.

The striker suffered the injury during our Premier League fixture against Southampton last week and specialists have advised surgery after further review of the injury.

The decision to undergo surgery is not expected to impact the timeframe that the England captain will be sidelined, with the expectation that he will return to training in April.

Big blow for Tottenham

Kane’s absence presents a huge worry for Mourinho. The club has struggled the last few games without their goal machine up front.

Spurs now have no choice but to accelerate their January transfer business to get in a quality replacement for Kane.

AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek is at the top of the list, according to The Sun. The Polish international has scored four goals in 18 Serie A matches this season but finds himself on the bench with the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Other considerations include Southampton’s Danny Ings and Oliver Giroud who’s found himself in the back of a pecking order at Chelsea.

Tottenham are also missing key players Moussa Sissoko, Ben Davies, Danny Rose, and Tanguy Ndombele.

Mourinho is keen to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Lemar on loan to bring more creativity to his squad.
