Borussia Dortmund is known for traditionally delighting the public with the design of new jerseys every summer. The black and yellow color is the trademark of the club from Dortmund and this is not deviated from when it comes to the first set of jerseys in which they play for most of the season.

Dortmund has been collaborating with Puma for several seasons now, which according to many is by far the best when it comes to jersey design, and they have some great ideas, but through history, this team wore some amazing jerseys designed by Nike and Adidas. If there is a team with so many beautiful football kits in history it has to be Borussia Dortmund and it’s certainly not easy to pick the top 5.

5. 1988/89 Adidas home kit

From 1974 to 1990 Borussia Dortmund kits were made by Adidas, which at the time made some of the most recognizable football kits in the history of football. The jersey in which Borussia played most of the matches was with dominant yellow color, with black details on the front and around the collar, and of course with the famous Adidas stripes over the sleeves. It’s interesting that the 2nd jersey was red which is a very unusual color for this team even for the 2nd or 3rd jersey. That season Borussia Dortmund won the German national Cup.

4.1995/96 Nike home kit

During the 90s Nike was in charge of the sports gear of Borussia Dortmund, and we can say that their designs were unique and amazing, but the home jersey from the 1996/97 season stands out. The jersey was yellow, but not standard yellow but neon yellow which was unusual back then and a huge hit among the young population. Borussia won the domestic title in that season and they did it with style in those amazing jerseys.

3. 1996/97 Nike home kit

All of the Nike jerseys made for Borussia Dortmund are beautiful and very unique so it’s hard to pick only a few of them for this list. However, the home jersey from the 1996/97 season is one of the most classy ones in football history. Borussia Dortmund played home matches in the yellow jersey with black on both sides and black stripes on the sleeves. Тhat jersey is the fans' favorite because that season Borussia won the only UEFA Champions League trophy.

2. 2012/13 PUMA home kit

From season 2012/13 PUMA became Borussia Dortmund’s designer, and they did really great work from the start. Yellow home jersey with black stripes looked amazing on Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze, and Marco Reus. This amazing generation of players led by Jurgen Klopp reached the UEFA Champions League final that season and unfortunately lost against fierce rival Bayern Munich. However, this yellow and black jersey will remain one of the most classy jerseys of this team.

1. 2020/21 PUMA home kit

It has also been known for a long time that they push the boundaries, however, with a new home jersey from the 2020/21 season Borussia Dortmund and PUMA have surpassed themselves. the design of the jerseys of the champions of Europe from 1997, was realized in such a way as to resemble tiger fur or lightning, while the color scheme remained the same – yellow with admixtures of black. It certainly is one of the most unique jerseys of all time, and the fans will forever remember the great matches Haaland played for Borussia in this jersey.
