Petition for Julian Alvarez to dump girlfriend reaches 20,000 signatures

20,000 Argentines have signed a petition to ask Julian Alvarez to dump his long-time girlfriend, Emelia Ferrero.

The 22-year-old YouTube star angered Argentina fans when she denied a group of youngsters a photo opp with the World Cup hero Alvarez.

The video captured on December 24th in Alvarez's hometown of Calchín, Córdoba, Argentina, shows Ferrero rejecting fan photo requests saying, “Please just one photo of everyone with one cell phone, one more picture because we have to go.”

Fans reacted swiftly with an online petition on Change.org calling for the footballer to ditch Ferrero for her antics.

Will Alvarez heed the call of his fans and end his relationship with Emelia? Slim chances. The couple has been together for four years.

Hometown hero Alvarez returns to Man City

It's been a whirlwind year for 22-year-old Julian Alvarez. The once-unknown footballer splashed on the world stage when he signed for Manchester City from River Plate for £14m last season.

He's scored seven goals and provided two assists in just 21 appearances for the Sky Blues this 22/23 season, impressing alongside goal-machine Erling Haaland.

But “the Little Spider” value has exploded since his heroics at Argentina's triumphant 2022 World Cup. The youngster starred alongside La Albiceleste legend Lionel Messi to bring home the country's first World Cup title since 1986.

He's now valued at €50m, according to Transfer Market. Without a doubt, the attention around Julian Alvarez and his personal life will remain high as he reaches the top echelons of world football.
