Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has threatened the German national team if Marc-Andre ter Stegen starts ahead of Manuel Neuer.

“We will not accept a change. If that happens, we won't send Bayern players to the national team anymore,” said Hoeness.

According to Sport Bild, Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen is expected to replace Manuel Neuer in at least one of Germany's upcoming matches in October against (friendly) and Estonia (Euro qualifier).

Should Ter Stegen dethrone Neuer?

Ter Stegen put on a remarkable display against Dortmund in the Champions League group stage opener. He's now saved four of six penalties faced in Champions League play.

He was also nominated for the Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper at this year's FIFA Football Awards. Liverpool's Alisson took the prize.

However, Manuel Neuer still has 15 more clean sheets than Ter Stegen for club and country since the start of 2018/19. Neuer has played less one game than Ter Stegen (57) and has conceded two fewer (53).
