Liverpool have dropped their retro-inspired home kit for the 2023-24 season.

The new kit pays homage to Bill Shankly's final season as manager of the Reds half a century ago. That's when Liverpool donned their iconic red with white collars and cuffs to FA Cup triumph.

Liverpool x 23/24 70s inspired kit

The 23/24 home kit reinvents the classic 70s kit with a modern twist but keeps it in line with the era's simplicity.

The back of the dapper red and white shirt features eternal flames and the number '97' as a tribute to the victims of the Hillsborough Disaster.

To announce the new shirt, Liverpool players wore 70s-styled wide-legged pants and posed in retro photo booths.

The Reds will debut the bright red kit in their last season match against on May 20. It may bring some luck, as Liverpool is neck and neck in seeking a top-four spot.

“The new home shirt is a classic,” said Liverpool's captain Jordan Henderson.

“Given the inspiration behind the design it feels iconic and a nod to the history of this great club. We're looking forward to wearing it at for the Villa game.”
