Barcelona intensify talks with Sergio Aguero over a free transfer this summer

aguero to leave man city

Barcelona have opened up talks with Sergio Aguero’s representatives to discuss a free transfer this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The Argentine’s contract at Manchester City expires at the end of the season. The club already announced the player’s departure last March.

Arguably City’s best player ever, Aguero has scored a whopping 256 goals and pitched in 73 assists over a decade with the club. His iconic Premier League winning goal in 2012 deserves its place in Manchester City folklore.

“Not only will I stay the four years to make it eight here in total, I’ll stay beyond that — until we win the Champions League,” said Sergio Aguero upon signing a contract extension back in 2014.

The 32-year-old attacker may now find himself scoring in the Champions League final against Chelsea at the end of May.

“Sergio Aguero is a legend. There’s no other way to describe the man, for what he has done for this club and the PL. Not many people come into his bracket. Hopefully, we can send him off with a UCL medal around his neck,” said Kyle Walker ahead of the team’s match in Istanbul.

Messi and Aguero together at Barca?

Lionel Messi’s contract also expires at the end of the season.

Signing Messi’s best friend and countryman Sergio Aguero could be the final piece in the puzzle that convinces Barcelona's star man to extend his stay at Camp Nou.

Messi, a free agent in June, is heavily linked to PSG and Manchester City but has increasingly shown interest in signing a three-year contract extension with Barcelona.

Barcelona are in need of a central forward to replace the vacancy of Luis Suarez, who the Catalan side mistakenly let go last season. Aguero could help fill that void, with plenty of goals still left in the tank.

#1. Who is the second top-leading EPL scorer behind Erling Haaland?

Harry Kane is the correct answer. He's scored 26 goals, putting him ahead of Ivan Toney (20), Mo Salah (19), and Marcus Rashford (16). Haaland, of course, leads the league with 35 record-breaking strikes.
